Keith Haring developed a unique visual lexicon using bright colors, bold lines and simple subject matters. Essential concepts - birth, death, love, and war - were conveyed by iconic symbols embodied in energy, waves, hearts, glowing babies, barking dogs, and “everyman” figures.  The immediacy and directness of Haring’s imagery has become a universally recognized visual language of the 20th century and it has been incorporated in promotions and products which range from populist to luxury.

Hailing from the surf and skate culture of Virginia Beach, Ryan McGinness arrived on the New York scene with raucous and refreshing graphic drawings that exhibited contemporary iconography. Copious colors and valiant forms overlap to create a combustion of representation and abstraction in a complex and chaotic composition.
McGinness has forged the way in illustrative, elucidatory, multifaceted landscapes that force the viewer to contemplate the role of society in high art in rather unexpected ways.
