In 1984, Swatch fused the vibrant world of music, the vivid hues of art and the adrenaline rush of sports in one incredible event: the Swatch World Breakdancing Championship. Way ahead of its time, and the first of its kind, this event united people across generations and backgrounds in one magical moment. The event took place in 1984 in New York City and was known almost as much for its iconic poster, designed by Keith Haring, as it was for the music and breakdance action on stage. Inspired by the 1984 Swatch World Breakdancing Championship, the watches in this collection are a true celebration of creativity and self-expression.

Summer 2023: Jean-Michel Basquiat x Swatch

Jean-Michel Basquiat needs no introduction, and Swatch knows that, so the Swatch x JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT Collection serves as a vibrant tribute to the game-changing contemporary artist. The release of the fifth capsule collection of the Swatch Art Journey 2023, a project that focuses on the brand’s love of trailblazing artists through unique watch designs inspired by the artists’ work — naturally, Basquiat was the ultimate choice. Three watches (titled after Basquiat’s pieces) make up the Swatch x Basquiat collection, filled with motifs, codes, and sketches from his artworks.
